The 10-week spring season is the main entry point for players into MetroLacrosse's Team-based program. Each spring more than 300
kids are selected to participate in the program by attending tryouts, which are based on their display of the values and
skills of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. rather than on athletic or lacrosse ability. Players are assigned to teams based on neighborhood
location. Teams practice in Dorchester and Chelsea twice a week. MetroLacrosse's Youth and
Junior teams play against other local lacrosse teams once a week. High School teams play against other area high school
teams. Transportation will be provided for teams that are not scheduled to play at their home field.
Fall Programs
The fall season is a 6-week season that meets 2-3 days a week to keep kids engaged and offer them an opportunity to continue building their lacrosse and R.E.S.P.E.C.T. skills. Any 3rd through 12th grade boy or girl who lives or attends school in Boston or Chelsea is eligible for the Fall Season. Many players have successfully completed the spring season and/or a summer program with MetroLacrosse, but new players are encouraged to join teams in the fall season as an introduction to the sport of lacrosse and to MetroLacrosse as an organization.
Eligibility
Any 3rd through 12th grade boy or girl who lives or attends school in Boston or Chelsea is
eligible to play on a MetroLacrosse team if they have previously participated in a MetroLacrosse program. MetroLacrosse offers three levels of play to address both the athletic
and emotional growth of our players:
- The Youth League is open to 5th and 6th grade boys and girls.
- The Junior League is open to 7th and 8th grade boys and girls.
- The High School League is open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade boys and girls.
Expectations and Commitment
Participating in MetroLacrosse promises to be both demanding and exciting. We believe that you can do
great things both on and off of the field and as a result we will have high expectations for you and your
teammates. While it is fun to be a great lacrosse player, it is more important to be a great person. With
that in mind, we require that each participant in MetroLacrosse demonstrate R.E.S.P.E.C.T. in all areas of
involvement. Your coaches and the staff of MetroLacrosse will help you focus on this throughout the season.
At every MetroLacrosse practice, game or function, we require that you come prepared and ready to apply yourself
to the task at hand. We insist that you respect the authority of coaches and work to create a healthy environment
in which you and your teammates have every opportunity to strive for excellence.
- Attendance Policy
Players are expected to attend every practice and game. Failure to attend and/or communicate about missed
practices or games may result in a loss privilege to play in games or removal from the program. In the Youth
Program, a player will be dismissed from the team after three absences. In the Junior Program, a player will be
dismissed from the team after four absences.
- Behavioral Policy
As always, MetroLacrosse expects that all of its participants display R.E.S.P.E.C.T. (Responsibility, Effort,
Sportsmanship, Participation, Enthusiasm, Communication, and Teamwork) at all times. Failure to do so may result
in suspension or removal from the program. Most behavioral issues will be handled on a case-by-case basis. However,
players can expect immediate dismissal from the team for any action that puts the personal safety of others in danger.
- Fees and Forms
Fees:
There is no fee to participate in MetroLacrosse’s Spring Programs. All equipment including sticks, helmets, goggles,
